12 New Channels will Soon Be Developed in East Jakarta

The East Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA) is about to build new channels in 12 locations, to prevent flooding.
Next week, we can sign the contract, and hope the work can begin in early May
East Jakarta Economy and Development Assistant, Fauzi said the construction of the second phase of this channel in 2025 had been communicated to the locals. This involved the urban village heads, sub-district heads, and the related Regional Device Organizations (OPD).
"This is a proposal from the community through the Regional Development Planning Forums (Musrenbang) last year," he expressed, Thursday (4/25).

"Residents must be given an understanding that this development is for the benefit of the wider community so that there are no puddles or floods," he explained.
East Jakarta SDA Sub-agency's Development Section Head, Tengku Saugi Zikri explained the channel would be focused on Jalan Makam, RW 03, Cibubur Urban Village along 382 meters and Jalan Hanapi, Pondok Bambu Urban Village along 607 meters.
"We already have the auction winner through the e-Catalog system. Next week, we can sign the contract, and hope the work can begin in early May," he explained.
This year, two sluice gates and two reservoirs would be revitalized to minimize flooding more effectively.
"Hopefully, in the future, East Jakarta people will be free of flooding from rain or flash flood from the upstream," he hoped.
